Look for MUSE at SALALM Conference
Project Muse is kicking off our busy conference month with a week-long exhibit at SALALM from May 9 through the 13. SALALM is a seminar on the acquisition of Latin American Library Materials. This year’s conference, held at the University of Virginia, will “question the privileged position of the Global North in the academic discourse of the area, especially as that discourse engages with other disciplines against the background of global studies.” While this conference has traditionally been restricted to librarians, the organizers invited other participants in the hopes that this discussion would continue outside libraries. Project MUSE is thrilled to be invited, and we look forward to seeing faculty, doctoral students, other publishers, and area studies program administrators in attendance.
If you’re attending SALALM, be sure to stop by the book fair and learn what’s new at MUSE. MUSE has recently partnered with UNE, the association of university presses and research centers in Spain, to offer ebooks from publishers based in Spain and Latin America. This collection will launch in the latter part of 2016. We also have content related to Latin American and Caribbean Studies from over 20 journals and 900 books!
